The Somerset County fair

One of the few free county fairs, the Somerset County 4-H Fair is on of the oldest and largest in the state. Now in it’s 61st year, the event draws an estimated 60,000 people over three days. 4-H members race go-karts, set up model trains, even bake cakes and spin wool. But the animals remain the fair’s biggest draw. Children in crisp white shirts and slacks parade their farm animals, from cows to horses, from sheep to alpacas, around the show ring in what is the culmination of a year’s worth of training and work.
