Linda Pagan was floored when at 17 her son, Max Rodriguez, showed up at their East Brunswick home with a military recruiter. Now 21, her son deployed to Iraq in the summer and Pagan has been active with the 50th Chemical Company’s family readiness group, attending support meetings and putting together care packages for Max. For Christmas, she contacted the video production class at Franklin High School, in Somerset County, to record holiday messages from family members as a surprise for the soldiers. Students Kahrice Harrison and Jarred McGriff, both 16, teamed up with the school’s junior ROTC instructor to record holiday messages from some 20 families at the National Guard Armory in Somerset.
