At Fruitwood Orchards in Monroeville, making honey is serious business. The orchard can produce up to 60,000 lbs of honey in a year. The bees are also essential to the pollination process for the fruit trees at the orchard and with the arrival of Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) the health of the bees is very important. Although there is no specific cause of CCD, beekeepers around the country are doing their best to keep their bees healthy so that we can enjoy all of the fruits and vegetables we have become accustom to.
